Global Voices Online: Blogging for Independent Journalists, Concerned Citizens and Activists is part of a larger conference, Internet & Society 2004: Votes, Bits & Bytes
This blog is a project in conjunction with a class at Harvard Law School called Digital Democracy. Through this medium we can explore issues surrounding the role of internet and communications technologies in the societies and development of South America. I invite all voices. I am neither a regional expert nor an academic, but I do believe in the power of technology to build bridges between cultures... I appreciate your help.

The Goddess Technology is the most thought provoking posting so far. Fernando's Cafe sounds like a great exercise in free enterprise. Even though the medium is supplied by Microsoft-people are free to communicate their message. One day they may read about keeping their bodies "beach ready" and the next day they may be reading about the confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, a man who has called the Geneva Convention "Quaint and obsolete" to the highest law enforcement position in the US. Meanwhile, I hope that Fernando and his mom prosper.
